Haiyuan Earthquake
The haiyuan earthquake took place December 16, 1920 in china. The earthquake is the third deadliest earthquake of all time. it is reported that it measured a 7.8 on a Richter scale. The haiyuan earthquake killed 200,000 people. The 1920 haiyuan earthquake or the Gansu earthquake, as it is now known occurred in haiyuan country, ningxia province in china at approximately 8pm local time.
Most of the damage came from the landslides due to the earthquake. Large-scale landslides occurred on the slopes and since the ningxia province had numerous slopes and some of them being steep, caused monumental damage. The 7.8 magnitude earthquake is still on record for being one of the deadliest natural disasters ever recorded.
